Several athletic fields are off-limits today because of unplayable conditions caused by rain.
Fields at Ireland Park, Millcroft Park and Nelson Park baseball diamond are the ones affected.
All other sport fields in the city remain open.
The City of Burlington says that inclement weather or emergency maintenance closures can occur at any time and without warning.
“If a field is in an unplayable state when you arrive, please stay off the field and contact customer service at [email protected], within two business days of booking, so they can assist you with any permit adjustments,” a statement by the city reads.
Examples of unplayable conditions include:
- Visible puddles and pooling of water on the field or diamond
- Water sponging up around your feet on the field or diamond
Staying off fields that are in unplayable conditions helps prevent injuries and prevents unnecessary repairs, according to the city.
