Burlington loves trees and it seems everyone in the city will go to great lengths to save and protect them.

But you can never have too many.

Burlington is relaunching its neighbourhood tree planting program and residents can now submit a request to have a tree planted on the right-of-way in front of their house, on City property.

This is how it will work:

  1. Call the City at 905-335-7777 or email [email protected] and say you want to be part of the program.
  2. A forestry investigator will visit to assess the property and help select the right tree if you are eligible.
  3. If the right-of-way is a good candidate for a tree, forestry staff will add the address to the list of locations for the upcoming planting season.

Requests for 2024 tree plantings are accepted between January and April. Residents can indicate the tree species preference at the time of submission. Forestry staff will try to accommodate resident requests.

Scheduling of tree planting will be determined by the location, suitability and availability of the chosen tree species, as well as the current number of requests.
