Arson is suspected in an early morning fire that gutted a store in a commercial area of Burlington this morning (Aug. 27).

According to reports, emergency crews were called to Master Carpet Supplies on Harvester Road around 5 a.m. when smoke could be seen coming from the building.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has since been called in to investigate.

The Burlington Fire Department said it was on the scene for about three hours before the fire was brought under control.

No injuries have been reported and damage is estimated at $150,000.

The carpet is located in the front area of a multi-unit business complex.

Because the fire was deemed suspicious, the Fire Marshal will now take over a segment of the investigation.
