Antique farm equipment the highlight of Milton’s Steam-Era festival

The Steam-Era weekend is returning to the Milton and Halton Hills area this Labour Day weekend.

Steam-Era is the Ontario Steam and Antique Preservers Association’s largest annual event.

For the last 60 years, OSAPA members have gathered every Labour Day weekend to show their privately-owned collections of restored operating antique equipment, including gas engines, steam engines, antique tractors, antique cars and trucks, and antique construction equipment.

Live demonstrations during the weekend will include antique saw mills, threshing machines and plowing. Demonstrations and competitions are held daily during the weekend, with each day ending with an equipment parade starting around 4 p.m.

There will also be food vendors and a flea market, a kids’ zone, and the popular “Learn to Drive”, where visitors can learn to drive antique tractors.

A large, interactive and operational military equipment exhibit, operated by the Ontario Military Vehicle Association, is also located on site, along with many other displays pertaining to agricultural and industrial heritage.

The event is being held at Hume’s Auction Farm, 9313 Fourth Line in Halton Hills, from Sept. 1 to 4. Admission is $15 per person, kids 12 and under are free. A weekend pass costs $35.
