All lanes open on Burlington Skyway this weekend

All lanes on the Burlington Skyway will be open tonight (July 14) and the rest of the weekend.

Previously, the Ministry of Transportation announced that Niagara-bound lanes will be closed every Friday in July starting at 6:30 p.m. (and re-opening the next morning), but that won’t be the case tonight.

The next scheduled day for Niagara-bound lane closures on the Skyway is July 21 followed by July 28 and Aug. 11.

Meanwhile, the continuing overhaul of the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge will lead to slowdowns through the area on Eastport Dr. until early next year.

During this construction work, three of the four lanes will be closed. The one remaining lane will open for alternating traffic with signalers or traffic lights.

The canal bridge will remain open for cyclists and pedestrians during this period and marine traffic will not be affected, according to Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC).
