For about 24 hours, Alice the wandering cow from Burlington was the talk of the town.
But now it can be reported that the search is over and Alice is back where she belongs…on the family farm.
Yesterday (Oct. 31) morning it was reported that Alice had gone missing from the area around 1 Sideroad between Guelph Line and Cedar Springs Rd. Soon after reports started to come in on Alice sightings as she explored the rural areas of Burlington.
Still, her disappearance worried owner Dani Pilon who said Alice was likely frightened and trying to find her way back to the barn.
Luckily she was corralled and has been brought to safety.
“Alice has been located,” Pilon excited wrote on social media pages late yesterday afternoon. “Thank you so much everyone!”
The cow’s adventure caught the attention of those using social media with almost everyone concerned about her well-being.
“I’ve been out looking for her. I want to be the one that finds her,” wrote one participant on the Burlington Together page on Facebook.
Others cheered her on while some were reminded of Burlington’s rural past when a stray animal wasn’t an uncommon sight.
Another person suggested that Alice’s tale be turned into a book for children.
Ultimately it’s a happy ending for Alice as Pilon reports that she is part of one big barnyard family that are kept safely as pets.
“I’m just so happy she’s safe,” Pilon said.
