One person was injured during an overnight fire in Burlington.
Burlington Fire responded to reports of a blaze on Plains Rd. E. around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, at a residential unit.
The Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate because of a serious injury requiring a person to be admitted as an in-patient to a hospital.
Two dozen firefighters were on the scene of the fire, that caused an estimated $100,000 in damage.
“Alcohol and fire are a dangerous mix,” said a fire department spokesperson. “Keep a close eye on drinkers in your household and make sure cigarettes are properly extinguished and the stove is off before going to bed.
“Many fire deaths are caused by people trying to cook or smoke while under the influence of alcohol.”
