A major construction project that has interrupted traffic flow through Burlington is set to end soon.

This means you will be able to travel along Lakeshore Rd. without taking a detour.

The replacement of Pine Cove Bridge and the resurfacing of Lakeshore began back in July, but a construction update shows work is nearing completion — possibly ahead of schedule — and motorists could see a return to normalcy by the beginning of December.

The $6 million project called for the replacement of Pine Cove Bridge, the resurfacing of the road, multi-use pathway improvements, the fixing of the Tuck Creek culvert and an upgrade of streetlights. The work was done on Lakeshore between Guelph Line and Walkers Line.

“The project has progressed according to schedule. The major bridge work is complete. Resurfacing and other tasks are being completed. Weather permitting, the project will be complete and Lakeshore Rd. will reopen to two-way traffic in early December,” reads an updated bulletin from the City of Burlington.
