Acton cyclist taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by vehicle in Oakville

A male cyclist from Acton was seriously injured in an early morning collision in downtown Oakville.

Halton Regional police were called to the scene in the area of Lakeshore Rd. E. and Watson Ave. around 6:55 a.m. with reports a cyclist had been struck by a vehicle driven by an adult male from Oakville.

The male cyclist “was transported to hospital for emergency medical treatment.”

The intersection was restricted to vehicular traffic for approximately 5 hours while the investigation was conducted.

“Investigators conducted aerial photography and 3D imaging to document the scene,” said Halton police.

Lakeshore Rd. E was closed in both directions from First St. to Gloucester Ave., while Watson Ave. was also closed from Randall St. to Lakeshore Rd. E.

“Uniform patrol officers attended and secured the scene and began the initial investigation,” said Halton police. “Due to concerns surrounding the cyclists injuries, the Collision Reconstruction Unit responded and took carriage of the investigation.”
