A driver who had too many modifications that created a lot of noise with his car now faces several fines.

Halton Regional Police say the illegal modifications were noticed on the vehicle by officers in the area of Brant St. and Plains Rd. last night (Aug. 30).

Upon inspection, officers found the modifications and subsequently issued seven tickets amounting to several hundred dollars with of fines.

Police said the 22-year-old driver was on his way back from a car meet out of town when officers pulled him over.

The Highway Traffic Act in Ontario outlines many offences that fall into the modifications category and usually pertain to exhaust systems, among others. Fines can range from $110 to $5,000.

Drivers sometimes make modifications or “trick-out” their vehicles to improve engine performance and to go faster.

The name of the person fined has not been released which is typical when they fall under the Highway Traffic Act rather than the criminal code.
