UPDATE: Fallen tree has brought down power lines.

Power has been knocked out for 6,000 customers in Burlington.

Today’s (July 27) blackout has affected both businesses and residential users, mostly south of the QEW and in the downtown area.

Burlington Hydro reports the outage is under investigation and crews have been dispatched to find the problem and fix it.

There is no timeline on when the lights are expected to come back on.

It is unknown if this outage is related to the one from earlier this morning when more than 1,000 users faced a blackout because of downed wires caused by a fallen tree.

Updates are expected from Burlington Hydro throughout the morning.
