5G arrives in Burlington for Freedom Mobile customers

As Freedom Mobile rolls out its national 5G network, Burlington customers should start experiencing the new technology.

Reports indicate the 5G icon is already appearing for customers in most parts of the city, although the Freedom coverage map shows several pockets where 4G service is the only option.

The technology is not yet available for most Freedom users directly north of Hwy. 407.

Milton, Oakville and Hamilton customers are also now in the 5G coverage area

The fifth generation technology — or 5G — generally brings greater speed and improved connectivity for cellphone service which means fewer dropped calls and better streaming.

For Freedom customers, the 5G network is available (or should be available soon) to those who have a 5G plan and compatible phones within coverage areas.

“Depending on which frequencies your phone supports you will be able to experience faster data speeds and improved experience,” according to Freedom.
