One of the world’s most famous conservationists will be making a rare appearance in Burlington later this year.
Jane Goodall, considered the foremost expert on chimpanzees and a person who has dedicated her life to environmental concerns and animal welfare issues, will be the guest speaker at an event hosted by the Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG).
She will be appearing on Oct. 11 at the RBG Centre, 680 Plains Rd.
Goodall, 89, began her career in 1960 when she travelled to Africa and started her studies on chimpanzees. Her groundbreaking work not only revealed insights into the behaviour of the animal but added to evolutionary research as well as highlighting the need to save various species from extinction.
At the RBG event, she will be speaking about her career and her ongoing work.
Her 60 years of experience and relentless efforts on behalf of the environment have sparked the conservationist movement and influenced hundreds or thousands around the world to turn their attention to the fate of the planet.
Tickets for the event are not yet on sale but due to the expected demand, those who want to attend will be asked to register in advance. Tickets will be awarded through a lottery system.
More details about ticket information will be released on Sept. 8.
