Emergency crews were called to the rescue on Mohawk Road just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Fire Chief Paul Boissonneault told inHalton.
Three workers were trapped in an approximately 10-foot-deep basement access being created for a secondary suite at the home, Boissonneault said.
There was a partial collapse on one wall, the chief said.
Two people were able to self-extricate with the help of Oakville Fire equipment, however, a third person remained trapped.
The trapped worker had a broken leg and was also safely extricated by fire crews and transported to hospital by Halton paramedics, Boissonneault said.
