Another $2 million has found its way into Milton’s coffers thanks to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.

The second quarter payment of $2,023,885 for hosting Elements Casino Mohawk brings this year’s contribution to $4.18M. Since the site opened in 1999, Milton has received $146,648,943.

These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.

“Land-based casinos serve as a source of good local jobs and generate important economic activity in municipalities that host gaming sites,” said Zee Hamid, Milton MPP.

“Proceeds from gaming received through the Municipality Contribution Agreement with OLG, in turn, help strengthen local infrastructure and support community programs.”

Across the province, since 1994, host communities have received more than $2.1 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.

Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to reinvest 100 per cent of OLG’s profits back into the province.

Over the past eight years, service providers have invested more than $2.2 billion in private sector capital investment across the province. Since 2016, these investments have led to the development and opening of seven new casinos, one planned development and additional gaming expansions and non-gaming amenities.
