August 9

Burlington

Celebrating Burlington’s Cultural Heritage

Spend the afternoon at Centennial Hall exploring Burlington’s history. Through informative exhibits and displays, discover the efforts of local organizations and community groups in preserving the city’s heritage.

From 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., visitors can attend free talks presented by the City of Burlington Heritage Planning, Royal Botanical Gardens, History Pix, and Halton Heritage Services. These talks will cover the preservation of cultural landscapes, buildings, and objects.

Burlington Centre Lions Farmers’ Market

Find fresh, locally grown produce, baked goods, meats, cheeses, and more at the Burlington Centre Lions Farmers’ Market. Support local farmers and enjoy everything from apples to zucchini.

Milton

Milton African and Multicultural Festival

This free event, taking place at Milton Sports Centre Community Park, offers a variety of activities, including live cultural entertainment and a diverse selection of cultural foods. Butter Tart Festival

Gotta Love Butter Tarts presents the Burlington Butter Tart Festival at Burlington Centre. Explore an artisan market with over 40 vendors offering a range of butter tarts and sweet treats.

Drop-in art activity at Art Gallery of Burlington

Join Catherine Jones in the Family Studio to create thaumatropes, a classic form of animation. Explore Alize Zorlutuna’s “We Who Have Known Many Shores” exhibition for inspiration. Volunteer Gallery Guides will be available for informal tours and to answer questions.

Civitan Farmer’s Market 

From its humble beginnings in 1979 at Hopedale Mall, the Oakville Farmers’ Market has grown into the town’s longest-running outdoor market. Operated by the Civitan Club of Oakville, it supports community charities with its proceeds. Now located at Dorval Crossing, with a parking lot donation from BentallGreenOak, the market continues to be a vibrant hub for fresh produce and local vendors.

Oakville

Half-day pottery wheel throwing

At Artventures, attendees will learn to create pottery on a wheel under the guidance of experienced potter Kelsey. This 4-hour class covers the basics of wheel operation, clay centering, throwing techniques, and finishing touches like trimming and glazing. Each participant receives personalized instruction and has the opportunity to keep their finished pieces.
