UPDATE: Man found floating in Lake Ontario near Burlington Pier

Halton Regional Police have confirmed the body found floating on the water Friday afternoon (August 16) near Spencer Smith Park in Burlington was that of a 45-year-old male.

The body, which was spotted just before 4 p.m., was located face down just metres off the shore close to the Waterfront Pier.

The Halton Regional Police marine unit and Burlington Fire Department attended the scene at 3:58 p.m. with the fire department recovering the body from the water.

“The body was confirmed to be male and the male further confirmed as deceased,” Halton Regional Police media relations officer Jeff Dillon told INhalton.com.

The death, say police, is not considered to be suspicious.

The Coroner attended the scene.

An investigation is underway by Halton police.
