Armed carjacker makes off with BMW from Burlington home

A man armed with a gun hid in the bushes before surprising a Burlington homeowner and stealing his car.

According to Halton police, the incident unfolded just before 2 a.m. this morning (Sept. 4) as the victim pulled into their driveway in the area of North Shore Boulevard East and King Road.

Once the victim got out of the car they were surprised by a man pointing a handgun who demanded the keys to the vehicle.

Police believe the culprit was hiding in the bushes waiting for the victim to arrive.

Once in the vehicle, the suspect fled eastbound on North Shore.

The victim was not physically harmed. The vehicle was a 2021 BMW sedan.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5-foot-9 and wearing a mask covering the lower portion of his face.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316. Or anyone with dashcam or surveillance footage of the area between the hours of 1:30-2:30 am is asked to contact police.
