2 Hamilton residents die in overnight crash in Burlington

An overnight crash in Burlington has claimed the lives of two Hamilton residents.

Emergency crews rushed to reports of a single-vehicle collision at Guelph Line and Lowville Park Road in Burlington on Thursday just before 1 a.m., Halton Regional Police said.

The driver of a silver Mitsubishi sedan was travelling northbound on Guelph Line, north of Britannia Road, police said. The sedan failed to negotiate the left turn in the road, slid off the roadway and struck a retaining wall, police said.

Police said the driver, a 47-year-old man from Hamilton, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and was pronounced dead.

The passenger, a 41-year-old woman also from Hamilton and a small dog, were both pronounced dead on scene, police said.

Police continue to investigate.
